Information we collect

This may include your name, contact details, delivery information, order and payment status, support messages, device details supplied for repairs, customer-profile details, saved-cart contents and basic website measurement data. When selected, Yoco or Bob Pay processes payment information on its secure hosted payment surface; KM Computers does not receive or store card details through this website. KM Computers sends the selected provider the minimum checkout information needed to create and reconcile the payment, such as the order reference, amount and customer email address.

Why we use it

• To respond to enquiries and recommend products.
• To create, verify, fulfil and support orders.
• To save the contact, quotation and delivery details you submit when confirming an order.
• To create a customer profile and save a cart when you separately choose to sign up or sign in.
• When you allow personalisation, to show on-site product picks based on products you view, search for or add to cart. Signed-in customers can have a limited product-interest summary saved to their account so picks can continue across visits. This is for store personalisation, not promotional messaging.
• When you separately opt in, to send no more than two unfinished-cart reminders, scheduled for about 1 hour and 24 hours after saved-cart activity.
• To send promotional emails and product offers only when you separately opt in, subject to your right to object or unsubscribe.
• To arrange delivery, collection, repairs and warranty service.
• To prevent fraud and meet accounting or legal obligations.
• To measure website and advertising performance when you allow the relevant optional tracking category.

Cart and order confirmation

You can add and remove products without creating a profile. The cart is kept on your device for up to 30 days. Guest checkout collects the contact and delivery information needed to create, reserve, fulfil and support the order, then saves the order in the private KM Computers order and CRM workspace. A customer profile or WhatsApp message is not required to place an order. WhatsApp may be used for order support or transactional updates where the customer chooses or expects that channel; promotional messaging requires a separate choice.

Optional email cart saving

If you choose Save my cart, we store your email, cart contents and reminder consent separately from customer accounts. You must confirm email ownership before reminders start. Resend processes the email address and message to deliver confirmation and reminder emails. A cart-only cookie lets you update or restore the saved cart; it never signs you into a customer account. Saved guest carts expire after 30 days and are removed within a further 30 days; stored delivery message bodies are removed after 30 days. Reminder links include an unsubscribe option. Clearing the saved cart or placing an order stops its reminders.

KM Assistant and AI processing

Text you choose to send to KM Assistant may be processed by OpenAI to answer product, repair and store-policy questions. KM Computers limits the accompanying store context to relevant public catalogue information and, for a signed-in customer, the current cart. The store does not add order numbers, courier tracking numbers, tracking links or full delivery addresses to OpenAI requests. Explicit order and tracking questions use KM Computers' private deterministic lookup instead.

Sharing and retention

Information may be shared with payment, courier, hosting, email and professional-service providers only where reasonably needed for the service or required by law. Records are retained for operational, warranty, accounting, dispute and legal purposes, then deleted or de-identified when no longer required.

Your choices

You may clear the cart from your browser, switch saved-cart reminders and promotional email off, reset product picks, or email sales@kmcomputers.co.za. Cookie settings remains available in the site footer so you can accept, refuse or immediately withdraw optional analytics, personalisation and marketing consent. You may also ask KM Computers to access or correct personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw eligible consent, or raise a privacy concern. Requests are handled subject to the Protection of Personal Information Act and other applicable law.

Necessary storage

Necessary browser storage keeps the cart available on this device, remembers your privacy choice and supports checkout. A secure, limited-duration cookie supports customer or staff sign-in. These functions are required to provide the store and cannot be switched off through the optional tracking controls.

Anonymous first-party store counts

KM Computers counts allowlisted store events—such as a page view, cart addition, checkout step, WhatsApp click or product share—in daily aggregate totals. These records contain the page path and a limited campaign-source label where available. They do not contain a visitor ID, IP address, email address, order reference, payment reference or a person-level browsing journey, and they do not use cookies. Before analytics consent, any campaign-source label is kept only in memory for the current page session and is not written to optional browser storage.

Optional analytics and marketing tags

Google Analytics and optional session-measurement technology remain blocked unless you enable Analytics. Advertising tags for services such as Meta and TikTok remain blocked unless you enable Marketing and KM Computers has configured the relevant campaign integration. Google Consent Mode uses denied defaults before any permitted Google tag loads. Optional tags receive query-free page addresses, and KM Computers removes order, payment and transaction references from third-party event data.

Personalised product picks

When you enable Personalisation, the store can remember up to a limited number of recently viewed products, cart additions and search terms on this device for 90 days from the latest update. Recommendation requests use those signals to rank the current catalogue; device search terms are not added to the signed-in account summary. For signed-in customers, the account summary contains product identifiers and view or add counts only, and signals older than 180 days are removed when the recommendation service is next used. Turning Personalisation off clears the device memory and requests deletion of that signed-in summary.
